2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread gets continued another time!
First topic message reminder :
We are just under three weeks away from the end of the window, when it slams shut, and none of the big names from the Premier League have gone anywhere. Suarez, Rooney, Bale could all leave, but the tables have turned and at least 2 of the 3 look likely to stay where they are.
Will business slow down as the Premier League season starts this Saturday before a late flurry as panic sets in, squads are closer to confirmation and the window closes?

Krohn-Dehli scored a couple of goals, but Eriksen looked by far the more accomplished player.

I watched that tournament, Denmark went out at the group stage. Eriksen was a disappointment, he was still young but he had no impact. He even made numerous `most disappointing XI of euro 2012` Go on footballspeak.com and read. Not sure where your getting `most accomplished` player from? Read the guardians expert verdict on Denmark at Euro 2012, again there most disappointing player went to eriksen. Look i think hes a good player but nothing special

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread gets continued another time!
I watched the tournament too, and I always watch Eriksen because he is at the heart of Denmark's creativity. I don't understand these so-called experts saying that Eriksen was a flop at the euros, I think it's because he was in every media pundit's 'to watch this summer' list, and because Denmark were poor, they were lazy and said he was rubbish. His teammates were not at his level of technical ability, we've all seen players far too good for the team they're in, struggling to stamp their authority on the game. That happened to Eriksen. He was probably their best player in the Portugal game.

I'm just not sure Hernandez is going to be happy sitting on the bench all year again, not many players are.Liam wrote:No way utd will sell Hernandez. Still a vital part of our side, as shown last season, especially against villa away

He's the knew Ole Gunnar. Baby-faced assassin, lethal off the bench.

He has been over the last couple of years, but he's 25 now and entering the prime of his career, I'm sure he'd want to be playing regular first team football.

Solskjaer cost £1m and played for a poor Norway side. Hernandez cost how much? Is worth possibly £15m-£20m, and plays for a talented Mexico side that could do well at the World Cup in Brazil. He needs game time and goals, goals, goals.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread gets continued another time!
In fairness I thought Hernandez should have got much more game time last year, especially when he was saving us consistently with his goals. Him and RVP up front would be an excellent partnership imo.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread gets continued another time!
Ole cost £1m in '96, Hernandez was bought 15 years later was £6m which is about on a par. If not cheaper even, in relativity.
Norway weren't half bad back in the late 90s from memory, not a whole bunch worse than Mexico now.
The analogy is sound.

Except the problem is not everybody is the same, and while Solskjaer might have been happy to sit on the bench, Hernandez could very well be different. He's also been getting less games every year he's been at United which isn't a great sign.
During his prime, Solskjaer was playing much more games than Hernandez has been the last two years.

I'm surprised Mourinho didn't go in for Drogba as rumoured rather than Eto'o.

Incorrect on both counts.Crimey wrote:Except the problem is not everybody is the same, and while Solskjaer might have been happy to sit on the bench, Hernandez could very well be different. He's also been getting less games every year he's been at United which isn't a great sign.
During his prime, Solskjaer was playing much more games than Hernandez has been the last two years.
Firstly, Hernandez played the same number of games the last two seasons.
Secondly, in the last 3 seasons he's played 117 games (scoring 50 goals) so average 39 games per season.
In Ole's first 3 seasons he played 113 games (scoring 46 goals).
Excluding the two seasons he was basically out, Ole played 319 games (scoring 126 goals) in total for United, averaging 35 games per season.

Spurs need a player like Eriksen I feel, they dont really have anyone who can open up defenses. Lot of pressure on him though

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread gets continued another time!
Hernandez can't lead the attack on his own. His whole game is based on getting good service so he's not a Rooney or RVP that can do it on his own. He does work superbly with either of those two but I feel he's at his best coming off the bench on the hour mark and relentlessly tormenting the opposition with both his pace and his movement. After all, most of his goals last season came in the latter stages of games when he had been brought on.

Real Madrid have agreed `in principle` to sign Siqueira From Granada, if Coentrao leaves the club.

Vaz will score bags of goals in the Champ. Actually, I think Palace should look at him, probably worth a punt if they are still missing Zaha like Holloway suggested.

They lined this up last week. Essentially if Coentrao leaves the club, Siqueira comes in on the same basis (i.e. both permanent or both loans).John wrote:Real Madrid have agreed `in principle` to sign Siqueira From Granada, if Coentrao leaves the club.
Siqueira was excellent last season and is a little under the radar. If he carries on playing how he has been for the last year, he will seriously push Marcelo for the starting LB spot.
The two players I can't believe none of the big boys have snapped up are the two Martinez's at Sociedad. Inigo was superb last year and has carried it on so far this season. He was brilliant in quite an impressive win over Lyon in the CL. Carlos was comfortably the best RB in La Liga last year, although I haven't seen him this year. Not sure why he didn't play in the Lyon games, I assume he is injured. I was sure both would be on the move this summer.

I see that Dortmund were rebuffed in attempts to sign Kagawa back. Not sure if thats good news in the long term or not.

Kagawa will end back at Dortmund, if this continues at United being out of favour. Reus will have a clause next summer, so he will also certainly be moving on to a bigger club.
Yeah, Inigo Martinez is class. How on earth Barcelona have not bought him? He's the long term successor to Puyol. You fear Barcelona will be found out defensively again this year when it counts.

Moyes is said to be leaving Kagawa out because he doesnt think hes fit enough at the moment, and doesnt expect him to be fully fit until after the international break.
Agree on Barca. Very surprised they havent landed a defensive target.

Mathieu Flamini has re-signed for Arsenal. Decent free transfer that, adds some much needed depth to the Arsenal squad, surely has to be the start of some spending though.

yeah not a bad signing for them, however i highly doubt arsenal supporters will be satisified if thats it

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread gets continued another time!
Hell, I'm not an Arsenal fan, and I'm not satisfied. They have one of the biggest incomes in the PL, one of the lowest debts, and a very significant war chest. They suffered from a lack of depth last season and if you look at their squad, there's actually fewer than 20 players who you would consider suitable for a top level team and about 6 of them are injured. No other team has as much need and availability to spend as Arsenal. Utter madness.CF wrote:yeah not a bad signing for them, however i highly doubt arsenal supporters will be satisified if thats it

Hearing whispers of us being linked with an £8m move for Tom Ince.
I'd have more concern about getting rid of:
Bannan
Hutton
Ireland
Given(sadly).

With these signings coming in, Spurs will apparantly allow Holtby and Sigurdsson out on loan.
Praying Hughton uses his ex-Spurs connection to get one of them

Not too sure Spurs would let both Holtby and Gylfi leave, otherwise they'll have a front 6 which consists of Lennon, Defoe and sandro as long standing players. Too much change is very rarely a good thing.

Yeah, I'd be surprised of both leave. Wouldn't be surprised to see at least one go, Holtby seems to not have really had a shot since his move. Wouldn't mind Liverpool seeing if we can get him or Sigurdsson on loan.

Holtby doesn't have a place in the squad now I feel but Gylfi offers something a bit different, he's got a bit of guile to go with the raw power of the rest of the midfield.

Yeah Holtby seems most likely to go of the two.
Strange they pushed through his move in Jan and he barely got a game.
Come to Nodge Lewis

The problem with Hernandez is he plays football for Mexico nearly every summer on top of long international trips.
Keeps missing pre season and can't force himself into the team- it will keep happening to him at any elite club as long as Mexico keep getting invites to tournaments other than the gold cup and WC.

Kaka leaving Madrid. Not the player he once was and injury problems, but might be worth a bargain pick up to see if he can recapture the spark. Brazil or AC Milan I suspect

Scratch that, the window for Brazil teams to register foreign based players is closed.
Probably could finagle a free from Madrid given his salary.
