Australian Open 2012 Day 14 - Men's Final
First topic message reminder :
Unfortunately, I have a match this morning so I won't be watching live.....but please leave your comments here....
For now I'll remind everybody what Djokovic thinks about it.
“There is no secret it is going to be physical again,” Djokovic said. “I will do my best to recover. I have a day and a half. I will try to get as much sleep and recovery program underway and hope for the best. I think that's going to be crucial, you know, for me to recover and to be able to perform my best, because Rafa is fit. He's been playing well. He had an extra day. He definitely wants to win this title.”

Whichever man wins this set will be laughing his head off after playing so poorly.
Neither has any sort of success on hitting winners with danger (I am discounting hit-away winners).

Better than 90 minute 1st for my man Djoko. I don't think either one of them wants a USO style deathmatch.

Simon Reed commentating the score line, as usual.
I believe that man could deliver a commentary from a points update screen.

Also, I hate to say it but I agree with those who say so far this is not a vintage match- alternating breaks (and the set) lost on double faults!

Judging by first 6 games of 1st set it looked like it'd be a routine win for Nadal... strange how he's being a bit dictated now. Nadal seems really slow??

Re: Australian Open 2012 Day 14 - Men's Final
Alternating breaks do happen though when you have the best service returners in the world and not really the strongest servers playing. It is pretty much nailed on that you will get breaks. True it hasn't been the very highest calibre but I think it is absorbing as it is like a battle for power in the game. Djokovic was top dog last year and owned Nadal but Nadal is here trying to change the trend.

First set Nadal was clearly better player... should've won 6-3/6-4, 2nd set Novak is taking the ball earlier and Nadal hasn't kept up.reckoner wrote:morning everyone - so, it's a set apiece - is it a close match?
